Method: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square cake pan In a large bowl, combine the oatmeal and water and let stand for 20 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, and baking soda. Add to the oatmeal mixture and stir to combine. Pour the batter into the prepared ban and bake until the cake is golden and skewer inserted into the center comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, make the topping: In a small bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. blend in the cream and whiskey. Stir in the nuts and coconut. Cover and set aside until the cake is done. Remove the cake from the oven. Spread the nut topping over the hot cake. Broil until the topping is bubbling and the coconut is toasted, about 5 minutes.
